Two people were killed and there were 25 others that were wounded in shooting’s across Chicago over Father’s Day weekend.
The latest homicide, took place on the city’s west side, after 12pm on Sunday, where police said a 17 year old boy, identified as Brandon Peterson, was gunned down while he was standing with a group in the 3100 block of West Polk Street. Peterson, was shot in the head and was then transported to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and pronounced dead just before 12:30 am on Sunday.
The other homicide took place on Friday, in an apparent drive-by shooting, on the west side after midnight in the 1300 block of South Central Park Avenue. The man was later identified as Dewey Knox. Police said that a dark-colored Sedan drove by and the person inside the vehicle opened fire. Knox was hit in the back and after being transported to Mount Sinai Hospital was later pronounced dead.
